My personal story…
I am a native Floridian of Cuban descent. fluent in English and Spanish, and have worked very hard to do what I love which is helping others resolve their family conflicts in a peaceful, compassionate, and private way.
As a mother of three amazing children, I know what it means to love and protect your family. My life began anew after a litigious seven-year divorce process that was prohibitively costly. During my divorce, I didn’t know any better and thought that the adversarial court process was my only option. There were times when I felt on the verge of an emotional breakdown during this process, but my kids were my driving force and I knew I had to be strong for them. I know now, that if I would have been given the option of Collaborative Divorce Law, working with a Collaborative interdisciplinary team, my financial empire would not have collapsed. In addition, my personal relationship with the father of my children would not have been so deeply severed. However, my drive to become an attorney evolved from this negative experience.
Being a Collaborative Divorce and Estate Planning Attorney plus a Family Mediator since 2010, provides a way for me to share my passion in caring for and guiding others through difficult times in their lives.
Moving forward in time, I took a leap of faith and opened my boutique, law practice, Vázquez Law, PLLC and merged my mediation practice, Mediate4Peace, LLC to provide my clients with the best of both worlds. I provide legal services to divorcing couples by way of the Collaborative Process, Estate Planning During and After Divorce (CollaBESTate™) and Mediation. I am determined to make this process far easier for you than it was for me.
Through my work experience serving as a Legal Intern on the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida, Probate Division, I can truly say that I understand the painstaking process and expense that families go through while grieving for their loved ones during the process of filing a petition with the Court. Not to mention the whole Probate process is public, making the beneficiaries vulnerable prey to potential predators and con artists.
My education, training, legal knowledge and experience empowers me to help families stay out of court and conflict.
Due to my strong foundational understanding of when a family member is rendered incapacitated, (and what to do next), I received the Guardianship Honors CALI award.
So, whether it’s a divorce battle, a family feud over assets, or a custody battle, litigation should never be the first choice because it fuels an already strained relationship. Instead, here at Vázquez Law, we focus on educating families with options that empower them to make the best, informed decisions. We also help families create thorough and comprehensive estate plans, appoint the right guardians in the short term and long term for their children and, we assist them in building a legacy for generations to come.
