What would happen to your kids in the event of an emergency?
Just imagine…
You and your partner are out dining and the kids are at home with your teenager babysitter, Cami. You tell Cami you will be home no later than 11:00 p.m. You give her your cellular phone numbers in case of an emergency.
It’s 11:30 p.m. and you and your partner are not home yet. Cami begins to worry because you are never late. It’s 11:45 p.m., and she tries calling your cellular phones. No answer. At this point, Cami wakes up the kids and helps them get dressed as the police call Department of Children and Families (DCF). You can just imagine the fear and confusion the kids are experiencing as they are taken away to an unknown environment.

The police cannot leave the kids in the care of Cami because she has no legal authority.
